Telangana Cable TV operators Association alleges Hathway of harassment

Hathway Cable & Datacom Ltd. has disconnected the feed of popular channels to the State cable operators of Telangana without giving a mandatory of 21 days notice which is stipulated in TRAI Quality of Service Regulations. Apart from this, it is also alleged that the MSO has increased the subscription fees without any prior notice to the LCOs.
Terming the disconnection as illegal and unethical, the Cable operators association of Telangana headed by M Jithender, State President and S. Jagdishwar Rao, State General Secretary has issued a memorandum to the GHMC President and to the GM of Hathway cables, where it has cited some of the issues that needs immediate action. These issues include: Hathway has to withdraw the new subscription prices which are high for a common man; broadcast all the channels without any interruption; create awareness on digitization; Hathway management should drop their aggressive behavior; protect the rights of the STB owners; share of the operators should be spelled out before the implementation of digitization; Broadband services should be given to the LCOs as per TRAI order and MSOs should respect and honour Cable operators.
In the letter, the Cable Association has requested to restore the disconnected channels and has called for a meeting to discuss the issues and implementation procedure of DAS.
