I&B Ministry provides fund of Rs 7.12 crore to the CBFC

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which is supposed to work independently according to the Cinematograph Act, 1952 now seems to totally depend on the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry as far as its budget is concerned.
The Ministry has been providing fund to the board under plan and non plan allocations.
During 2014-15, the Ministry has allocated a fund of Rs. 7.12 crore to the board’s non-plan estimated budget, which was earlier Rs 7.01 crore, while its estimated plan allocation is Rs.2 crore, which was Rs 70 lakh earlier.
