NTV Blocked in Andhra Pradesh for airing CM’s scam tapes

In the ongoing tussle between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, media has played a prominent role. Two prominent Telegu News Channels, N TV and Sakshi News have been continually telecasting the video clippings of the cash-for-vote case along with the audio clipping of TS nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson’s alleged conversation with AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ever since the issue came to light. This has led the AP CM, Mr. Naidu to ban NTV in the state. It is learnt that the CM has sent notices to the AP cable operators to stop the services of NTV channel in all 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh. The CM is also planning to block Sakshi TV, owned by YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
NTV has been blocked in the state for last 3 days. “We have been flooded with reports from 13 districts that all MSOs have been told to stop airing our channel; we are constantly in touch with the MSOs, finding out reasons for this and we will come out with an official version from our side within the next two days”, reported a senior official from NTV.
According to the reports, the main reason for blocking the channel in the state is the closeness of the NTV owner with Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao. Although the NTv officials admit that the channel has been blocked due to the pressure from the state Government, but according to AP MSO Association chief, P Sai Babu, the channel has gone off air due to technical issues.
