DTH leads HD boom in the SAARC region

The high-definition television (HDTV) segment in the SAARC region is expected to boom over the next three years, according to a research report published by Dataxis. The report notes that the steady increase in HDTV subscribers and the number of HDTV channels in the region, driven by the digitisation drive, could lead to robust growth in the segment.

Linear TV viewing continues decline in UK

Average daily viewing on the TV set fell by 11 minutes in 2014 compared to 2013 according to Ofcom’s latest Communications Market Report. This is the second consecutive year of decline, following a nine-minute decline in 2013 compared to 2012.

BBC Worldwide announces deal with Tata Sky to launch BBC content in India

BBC Worldwide has announced its first VOD deal in India. The deal with Tata Sky comprises SVOD and TVOD services and gives subscribers in eight metros in India access to the best of the BBC’s drama and comedy via ‘BBC On-Demand’, a branded property on Tata Sky’s platform.
