TDSAT asks Vishal Cable to pay Rs 1.5 million to Star India

In a directive issued by Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) a Mumbai based MSO, Vishal Cable Network has to pay Rs 1.5 million to Star India in three equal fortnightly installments and in return the broadcaster has to restore the supply of its signals to the MSO.
The payment, as directed, shall be on account and without prejudice to the rights and contentions of the parties. The first installment of Rs 500,000 should be paid on 9th June, the second by 24th June and the third installment by 9th July.
TDSAT has also asked the MSO to make payments of the monthly subscription fees based on invoices raised by the broadcaster during the pendency of this petition.
The MSO filed the petition after Star disconnected the supply of its signals to the MSO on 5th June. It had issued a disconnection notice on 12th May due to non-submission of SMS reports, non-payment of license fees and non-cooperation in audit.
The tribunal has directed Star India counsel Saurabh Srivastava to file the reply to the notice within four weeks. Rejoinder, if any, may be filed within two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the reply.
The further proceedings of the tribunal will take place on 24th July.
