Viu partners with Korean cable TV network JTBC

Due to rise in OTT segment, viewers in India are able to watch content from across the world. Korean drama series and shows are now being made available by PCCW Media Group pan-regional OTT video service Viu. To bring more content, Viu has now partnered with the Korean cable TV network JTBC.


According to PCCW Media Group managing director Janice Lee, “We are pleased to present JTBC’s exciting program lineup to fans across Asia which reaffirm Viu’s commitment to bring premium Asian content to our viewers and our position as the preeminent OTT video platform in Asia. In continuing to enrich the breadth and depth of content, Viu has also been expanding its content portfolio with Viu Original series which comprise series produced in Indian, Chinese and Indonesian languages, collaborating with award-winning directors, renowned artistes and premium production houses in the region.”

JTBC Content Hub CEO Jung Kyung-moon commented, “The drama series and variety shows of JTBC have a track record of success with high ratings bearing testament to their excellent quality and high entertainment value. While we will continue to maintain our premium standards in all our productions, we are very pleased to collaborate with Viu, one of Asia’s foremost OTT video services, so that our programs could access a bigger audience across the region with Viu’s highly engaged user base.”

The deal includes 80% content of the JTBC, which is the largest in Asia. The shows will have subtitles.

The list of shows includes Misty and Welcome to Waikiki, Strong Girl Bong-soon, The Lady in Dignity, Secret Healer, as well as high-rating variety shows with guest appearances of Korean idols and superstars, such as Chef & My Fridge, Men on a Mission, and Midnight Madness, amongst others.
