Facebook hires Eurosport CEO Peter Hutton for global sports rights

To secure global sports rights, the social media behemoth Facebook has hired Eurosport CEO Peter Hutton; he will report to Facebook’s head of global sports partnerships Dan Read.

Facebook is looking aggressive on sports front and it might look to bid for Premier League football in the upcoming auction for rights covering the 2019-2022 seasons.

Three years ago, Discovery had hired Peter Hutton to oversee Eurosport. Before this, he was with the sports rights agency MP & Silva Group where he was co-CEO. Earlier, Hutton was part of Fox International Channels, driving the launch of their sports business outside the Americas, including the acquisition of Setanta Sports in Africa and ESPN/Star Sports in Asia.
