‘There is no proof to support Aadhaar tampering allegations’: Govt

Answering the allegations that Aadhaar data has been breached, the Union law and information technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad attacked the critics of Aadhaar, arguing that it had benefited the poor while vouching for the strength of its security mechanisms following a report that demographic details of those enrolled in the system were available for Rs 500.

He said there are no proofs available to support these allegations. The Minister added that a number of fake accounts and teachers were identified with the help of Aadhaar cards, thus helping the government save precious resources.

The Minister also informed that all the suggestions made in today's consultation will be incorporated in the blueprint being prepared for the sector by McKinsey and will be ready by January 15.

He lashed out at critics and said: “There is a vicious campaign against Aadhaar. But there is not a billionth chance that Aadhaar can be tampered with. We are sure of my system”.
