Reliance Entertainment, AP International Films & Y Not Studios partner to produce South Indian movies

South Indian films are getting great popularity in even North India due to smartphones and cheap internet with attractive offerings from leading OTT players. To cash in on the boom, Y Not Studios, a leading South Indian film production house, AP International Films (Distributor), and Anil Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment have signed a MoU. They will produce high quality films.


Y Not Studios has produced 12 feature films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi. This will be the entry of Reliance Entertainment in South Indian movie segment. RE has already made a name in Bollywood as well as Hollywood.

AP International Films is a leading overseas distributor and has distributed more than 700 movies which include movies like Linga, Kabali, Theri, Mersal, and Baahubali. AP International has interests in theatres in the Gulf and UK.

AP International partner Sanjay Wadhwa said, “We have been working with Reliance Entertainment since they came into Tamil films with Yaavarum Nalam, and with Y Not Studios since their inception with TamizhPadam, and are very excited to be a part of this joint venture.”

According to Reliance Entertainment COO Shibasish Sarkar, “We are extremely pleased to partner with Y Not Studios and AP International. This relationship will allow Reliance Entertainment to make its presence felt strongly in the vibrant South Film market, with the production of high-quality content. This relationship is in line with our continuing strategy of partnering with like-minded and successful creative individuals while playing the role of supportive investors on our part.”
