DEN deploys 1.5 lakh STBs; earns profit of Rs 2 crore in Q3

The multi system operator (MSO) DEN Networks has deployed 1.5 lakh set top boxes (STBs) during Q3, making its total digital base reach11.2 million. The company’s active subscriber was at 7.4 million. The MSO’s consolidated net profit has doubled to Rs 2 crore in this quarter ending on 31 December.


According to DEN Networks CEO SN Sharma, “Den has been able to improve operational performance consistently every quarter with a constant focus on increasing the subscription collections on the ground with a much controlled cost base. It is a time of pride and joy as we announce that as per the Trust Research Advisory (TRA) Research, DEN has outshined all its competing brands and has emerged as the “Most Attractive Brand of 2017” in the cable TV segment.”

MSO’s net profit from cable TV segment was Rs 10 crore while revenue was Rs 312 crore compared to Rs 308 crore. EBITDA stood at Rs 82 crore as against Rs 83 crore. Opex fell to Rs 96 crore from Rs 93 crore. Cable TV subscription revenue jumped 6% to Rs 174 crore from Rs 164 crore. Placement fee fell to Rs 85 crore from Rs 88 crore. Activation revenue was Rs 36 crore compared to Rs 37 crore.

DEN’s average revenue per user (ARPU) was at Rs 78 compared to Rs 74 in the trailing quarter. ARPU from DAS Phase I jumped to Rs 120 from Rs 117. DAS Phase II ARPU jumped to Rs 96 from Rs 90. DAS Phase III and IV rose to Rs 64 and Rs 56 respectively from Rs 61 and Rs 46.
