BIF believes in-flight connectivity may boost revenue

The telecom regulator TRAI’s recent recommendations allowing in-flight connectivity have been received positively by the industry as well as flyers. Commenting on the recommendations, the Broadband India Forum (BIF) said that connectivity during air travel will benefit air travellers and will boost revenue of service providers.

According to T.V. Ramachandran, President, BIF, "BIF supports the recommendations completely and believes that this will largely benefit the air travellers over India... lead to additional revenues for the service providers and the government besides bringing about socio-economic benefits to all. In-flight connectivity and access to the Internet is available today in many parts of the world. We are somewhat behind other countries."

BIF President also requested the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to quickly accept and implement TRRAI’s recommendations after having a co-ordination with MoCA (Ministry of Civil Aviation)".
