Vodafone & Airtel want to buy RCom's airwaves

Leading telecom operators are eyeing airways of Reliance Communications which has shut its voice call service on December 1. The Anil Ambani-owned telecom company has already sold its DTH arm Reliance Big TV. RCom is under a massive debt of Rs 45,000 crore, and is facing quite a few litigations for dues. .


Airtel and Vodafone want RCom’s 2100 MHz spectrum in 13 circles including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Northeast, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Orissa, West Bengal and Rajasthan. The spectrum licence will expire in 2030. Additionally, Airtel and Vodafone also want to buy RCom’s 900 MHz spectrum in Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Both spectrums can deliver 4G services.
