Sun TV now knocks the door of NCLT against Reliance Big TV

After reaching the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) to recover its dues after the DTH operator Reliance Big TV had issued a public notice stating that it will shut down operations on 18 November due to the expiry of licence, Sun TV has now filed an insolvency petition against RBTV in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Mumbai.

Experts feel that as Sun TV did not get any positive feedback from TDSAT, it has to knock the door of NCLT.

Reliance Big TV owes more than Rs 100 crore to leading broadcasters like Star India, ZEEL, Sony Pictures Networks India, TV18, Viacom18, Sun TV, and Discovery Communications India. Sun TV Networks has claimed dues of Rs 30 crore. Star India’s dues are said to be in the range of Rs 22 crore. IndiaCast Media’s dues are approximately Rs 14.62 crore. Discovery has claimed dues of Rs 7.5 crore.
