Zee to launch channels for 3 regional markets in FY19

Taking the importance of regional viewership seriously, the Zee Media Corporation Ltd (ZMCL) will soon enter three such markets with the launch of three news channels in FY19. The channels will cover Kannada, Telugu and Assam-North East regions.

ZMCL CEO regional news Purushottam Vaishnava said: “We plan to expand into regions where we are not present. We are not present in North East and South India. We plan to launch Kannada, Telugu and Assam-North East focussed news channels in FY19.”

He added: “We are in the planning stage to launch these three news channels in the current financial year. It’s not that we will not enter Tamil and Malayalam markets. We plan to have a presence across South. After Kannada and Telugu, these are the language markets that will be left for expansion.”
