To further expand its presence across all segments of viewers, the digital music network Songdew.com has launched of a free-to-air (FTA) music channel Songdew TV.

Songdew founder Sunil Khanna said, “Though the internet is growing TV has a vast penetration in the smaller towns whereas internet still has certain challenges. Keeping that in mind we thought why not create an opportunity using the TV as a platform and give more encouragement to the artist to create better content.”

Songdew TV is available on direct to home (DTH) platform Videocon d2h as a 24-hour active service. It has also tied-up with over the top (OTT) platform YuppTV which will allow it to reach the Indian diaspora globally.

Khanna added: “With the mobile app, we are able to tap younger audience, artists come through the website and a large number of audience in Tier II and Tier II markets who are still hooked to TV, they will be able to see the music through TV channel. It is a unique proposition for independent music in India to grow and get the music shown across all platforms.”
