What after Digitisation? TDSAT Seminar held in Mumbai on 24 March 2018

TDSAT Seminar held in Mumbai focused on post Digitisation developments in the Industry, particularly the regulated challenges in the converged communication environment. As reported earlier, TDSAT’s domain of adjudication has been increased including Cyber and Online disputes and Airport Sector.

Chief Guest at the Seminar was honorable justice Mr. S. S. Kemkar, Judge High Court of Bombay.
In the beginning of inaugural session of the seminar after the opening remarks by Mr. B.B.

Srivastava, member of the TDSAT, the Chief Guest addressed the audience. This was followed with the inaugural address by Justice Mr. Sharad Arvind Bobde, Judge of Supreme Court. Honorable justice Mr. Shiva Kirti Singh, Chairperson of TDSAT concluded the inaugural session. Mr. Manjul Bajpai, President of Telecom Lawyers Association gave the vote of thanks.

There were three business sessions during the seminar in which the first one included Mr. A.K. Bhargava, Mr. Ashutosh Kumbhakoni, Mr. Rajan S. Mathews, Mr. Rajesh Agrawal, and Mr. Pawan Duggal discussing the IT Act, 2000, Industry, cyber and online disputes.

The second business session was moderated by Mr. B.B. Srivastava and included Mr. R.N. Choubey, Mr. S. Machendranathan and Mr. R.K. Jain as panelists who discussed on ‘Airport Sector’.

The panel of third business session included Mr. N.K. Sinha, Secy I&B, Mr. U.K. Srivastava, Pr Advr. TRAI, Mr. A. Mohan, President, Zee Network, Mr. Ashok Mansukhani of Hinduja Group, Mr Tejveer Bhatia Advocate and Mrs. Roop Sharma, President of COFI. The theme of discussion was the future of Broadcast, Digital World and Cable TV industry.

Mrs. Roop Sharma announced that the MIB has not been serious in digitizing Cable TV industry due to which the Industry has suffered heavily and the Ministry has even pulled up by the Parliament Committee on IT for this. Phase 3 and 4 are still incomplete, she informed.
