RJio registers Rs 510 crore profit in Q4

While leading telecom operator Airtel registered a big loss in Q4, the new entrant Reliance Jio Infocomm reported a net profit of Rs 510 crore, which is Rs. 6 crore up from the third Q. Its Operating revenue was Rs. 7128 crore.

But RJio’s average revenue per unit (ARPU) fell sequentially at Rs 137.1 per subscriber per month, triggered by the sharp cut in its base offer to Jio Phone users at Rs 49 per month and users moving to lower priced bundled plans. Jio's ARPU stood at Rs 154 in the third quarter.

The telco's standalone EBITDA stood at Rs 2,694 crore, up 2.5% sequentially, while EBITDA margin stood at 37.8%. Its subscriber base stood at 186.6 million as on March 31, 2018. It claimed to have the lowest churn in the industry at 0.25% per month.

Mukesh Ambani, CMD, said: “The strong financial results of Jio in a competitive market environment demonstrate the robustness of the Jio business model and ability to offer the most value to our customers and partners. Jio has demonstrated that it can scale and sustain its strong financial performance."
