RBTV gets disconnection notice from Times Network

The direct-to-home (DTH) operator Reliance Big TV (RBTV) has got the disconnection notice from Times Network. The notice has been issued for non-payment of subscription fee and non-signing of the subscription agreement.

All Times Network channels - Times Now, ET Now and Zoom will be discontinued on or after the expiry of 21 days from the date of issue of this notice.

Reliance Big TV, which had 2% share of the active pay DTH market till September 2017, has been acquired by Pantel Technologies and Veecon Television and Media from Reliance Communications. The DTH owes a huge amount of dues to top broadcasters.

To win customers, RBTV has recently launched a new high definition (HD) set top box (STB) for Rs 1999. The DTH operator is also offering free pay channels for one year and 500 free to air (FTA) channels free for five years. From the second year, the subscribers will have to pay for the pay channels at Rs 300 per month.
