New Ookla study puts India on 67th position in fixed broadband speed

According to Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index report, India finds its place on 67th place in fixed broadband speed as of February. Last year, the country was on 76th position. So an improvement has been witnessed.


But in terms of mobile internet download speed, India’s position is unchanged; it is on 109th position globally.

As per report, India’s fixed broadband download speeds have increased from average speeds of 18.82 Mbps in November 2017 to 20.72 Mbps in February 2018. India’s average download speeds have also risen to 9.01 Mbps in February from 8.80 Mbps in November last year.

The report adds that India’s upload speeds for mobile data stood at 3.66 Mbps and for fixed broadband stood at 16.09 Mbps as of February. For mobile data, the global average download and upload speeds were 22.16 Mbps and 9.01 Mbps respectively.
