To keep ahead in the latest technologies like IoT, 5G, AI, the leading telecom operator Airtel will soon set up an innovation lab in Bengaluru. The telco is also looking to collaborate with tech start-ups to share learnings from the lab and co-create solutions.
Airtel said during the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Spain that it is in advanced stages to set up a digital innovation lab in Bengaluru to work on emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality as part of its broader strategy to develop strong in-house technology capabilities.
Chastised by Reliance Jio’s dazzling entry, Airtel is currently transforming itself into a major digital operator in India, has identified these technologies as a big focus area, and will establish the lab under its digital innovation project -- Project Next – for which it will invest Rs 2,000 crore over three years to bring digital solutions to the market.
