Electricity pole charge dispute resolved in Guwahati

The dispute over payment of electricity pole charge has been resolved by the two opponents namely the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) and Greater Guwahati Cable TV Operators’ Association (GGCTOA) themselves.
The issue first erupted in September 2013, when the APDCL imposed a charged on cable TV operators in Guwahati for using electric poles to lay cable wires. Cable Operators Association had threatened to observe a blackout against the high handedness of the electricity department.

The first step towards resolution of the issue was taken on 6 March, when representatives from APDCL and GGCTOA met and agreed to together conduct a survey to ascertain the number of electricity poles in the Guwahati region.
