TRAI extends time to receive comments on Tariff orders for DTH CPEs

TRAI has extended the deadline for receiving comments from stakeholders on the draft Tariff Order for issues related to commercial interoperability of CPEs in DTH service issued on 27 February 2015. The comments or views were invited by 13 March 2015 but on the request of stakeholders, last date has been extended to 19 March, 2015. Comments received after 19 March, will not be entertained by the Authority.
The main purpose of this draft is to balance the interest of the consumers and service providers, also to get some views on the portability of CPEs of one operator to another operator. At present subscriber has to purchase the CPE of another operator, if he wishes to change his service provider. Authority wants to protect the interests of subscribers through commercial interoperability of CPEs. Commercial interoperability provides an exit option to the subscribers in case they want to switch operator /platform.
