Novex Communications, a content distributor, has lodged a FIR (First Information Report) against Bhima Riddhi, cable TV Company of Nagesh Chhabria in Kolhapur for copyright violation. The FIR was lodged by Mohammed Wasim Sayyed under section 63 and 64 of the Copyright Act.
Novex has alleged that the Multi-System Operator (MSO) and its affiliates in Kolhapur are airing films from Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Shemaroo Entertainment without obtaining the licence, while Novex has got the rights from them for their movie library, which it sells to cable TV Operators.
