TRAI hauls up Telecom operators for non-compliance of regulations

Trai has told the telecom operators to start complying with regulations. They will have to face penalty if they don’t adhere to the regulations. In a meeting with the operators, the TRAI has said if a regulation has been issued it has to be adhered to. Earlier, there were cases when the implementation of the orders was delayed if it went against the business. For instance, a 2011 on valued added services has not been complied with yet.
The TRAI had passed an order that the consent of the subscribers must be taken before their value added services were activated. It didn’t happen then, instead a new system was introduced which was supposed to address the consumer complaints. The regulatory authority also issued a show cause notice to operators. The other issue where the regulations were not complied with regarding mobile number portability.
