Even the older 2G players would be allowed to participate in the 2G auction: says Milind Deora

The Minister of State for Communications and IT, Milind Deora, has said the old players will also be allowed to participate in the 2G auction by the government. He was speaking about the upcoming 2G auction at the 2nd National Conference on e-Commerce organised by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in New Delhi on 14 September.
The auction will be open to all players, including those operators whose licences were cancelled by the Supreme Court order, he said.

"For more clarity in sector, we come up with new unified licences regime and also assure the transparency in this sector. The government is hopeful that not only Indians but foreign investors will also invest in the sector," he added.
"Generally most of the people we have met including foreign investors are quite happy with the new regime and I think we will receive a good response from them in the coming auctions," Minister of State for Communications and IT Milind Deora told reporters on the sidelines of an e-commerce event organised by Assocham.
