IBC 2012: Canada’s Mariner now monitoring 7mn video devices

Canadian quality assurance specialist Mariner has reached the milestone of monitoring 7mn devices used to receive video services, such as set-top boxes.
Mariner xVu monitors beyond the edge of the network, working to detect and isolate complex IP video problems, and CEO Curtis Howe claims that the company is now monitoring more IPTV set-top boxes on a managed network than all its rivals combined.

Mariner xVu has been supporting the Microsoft Mediaroom environment since 2009, and recently announced support for the new functionality in Microsoft Mediaroom Client 2.2. Other ecosystems supported include Cisco Videoscape, Viaccess-Orca (RiGHTv and Compass), and Minerva iTVFusion.
The solution currently monitors three of the top five service providers in North America.
