IBF moves TDSAT against FHRAI’s circular

The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) has filed an application in the Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) against the Federation of Hotels & Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI) as its members are not taking signals directly from broadcasters.
Based on its tariff order for commercial subscribers, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had issued letters to the FHRAI and asked them not to take signals directly from broadcasters and do so only from distribution platforms. In response to it, FHRAI had issued circulars to its members and asked them to refrain from taking signals directly from broadcasters.
As TDSAT has already set aside TRAI’s tariff order for commercial subscribers, consequently, IBF filed an application in the TDSAT contending that the FHRAI’s action is contempt of TDSAT judgment.
The matter has been put up under the same heading on 29 May.
