The leading telco Vodafone will soon offer the converged broadband solutions in India. Its wholly-owned unit, YOU Broadband has over 3,000 km of optic fibre cable and 17,000 km of last-mile coaxial cables to homes across 18 key data consuming markets. The Telco is planning to leverage this with its telecom services.
The step will be taken as part of measures to compete with Reliance Jio Infocomm which is expected to launch JioFiber by March end. Bundling wired home broadband packs with 3G/4G mobile services may offer attractive choices and rates for customers.
Converged broadband solutions business model is already popular in key international markets such as the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands.
