On 15 February, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be launching DD Arun Prabha, a channel exclusively for the viewers of the North-Eastern region. The channel will be launched from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. This year, the budget allocated Rs 55.7 crore for ‘Kisan’ and ‘Arun Prabha’ channels.
This is the second Doordarshan channel for the north-eastern region, and will showcase programmes on the diverse culture of the North Eastern states. DD North-East telecasts entertainment and information- based programmes in Assamese, Bengali, English and other languages of the region.
The PM will also lay the foundation stone of the Film and Television Institute in the capital city of AP.
