Madras High Court allows three Sun companies to take part in FM auctions

The Madras High Court on 23 July allowed three Sun group companies - Sun Network, Kal Radio and South Asia FM to participate in the phase-III auction of FM radio.
The I&B ministry extended its mock auctions dates for phase-III radio FM channels by a day to allow the Sun TV channels to participate. On 22 July, the Delhi High Court had allowed two other companies of the Sun Group to take part in mock auctions. The final hearing in the Delhi High court is on 24 July. 
Sun group's has five companies Kal Radio Ltd, Sun TV Network Ltd, South Asia FM Limited, Digital Radio (Delhi) Broadcasting Ltd and Digital Radio (Mumbai) Broadcasting Ltd had been excluded from the final list of 21 pre-qualified bidders.
On 21 July, the Madras High Court had reserved its order on an interim plea by the Sun Group seeking a direction to the Centre to allow it to participate in the auction process.
“Two companies of the Sun group participated today. Their digital signatures were also collected. Rest of the channels of the group will participate tomorrow," an official of the ministry said on 23 July, The actual auctions are slated to begin on July 27.
