Comcast upgrades broadband speed across Northeast and introduces a faster service for its triple-play customers.

The largest broadcasting and Cable Company in the world, Comcast cable of U.S has rolled out a free speed upgrade for its “Blast!” broadband tier across its Northeast Division and has also introduced a faster “Performance Pro” service for its triple-play customers.
The Blast! Service offered by the company is rising from 105 Mbps down to 150 Mbps. Additionally, new and existing customers that one of the MSO’s triple-play packages are getting Performance Pro, which is seeing its downstream capabilities rise from 25 Mbps to 75 Mbps.
The latest batch of upgrades are for Comcast’s Northeast Division, which includes 14 states from Maine to Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C.
Comcast said the new speeds and tiers will be available to the “vast majority” of new and existing customers starting later in July.  Subs who take eligible triple play bundles will receive the new Performance Pro speeds, and all new and existing customers with Blast! will get the speed bump. Comcast said some subs that are eligible for the new speeds may need to upgrade their modems or re-start their existing equipment.  Customers who lease modems from Comcast will be able to receive upgraded modems at no additional charge, Comcast said.
Those customers also have access to Comcast’s Xfinity WiFi network, which currently spans more than 8.5 million hotspots, comprised of a mix of deployments in public and business locations, as well as via “Neighborhood Hotspots” installed in home-side routers.
“Today, our customers simultaneously connect to the Internet through multiple smartphones, tablets and laptops, and whether it’s to stream, shop, video chat, upload photos or do homework, we’re committed to ensuring they get the best overall experience with blazing fast speeds and the most Wi-Fi coverage, all delivered over our state-of-the-art network,” Kevin Casey, president of Comcast Cable’s Northeast Division, said in a statement.
