IBC 2013: Amagi launches cloud-based platform for OTT Multi-screens in partnership with RiverSilica

Amagi’s cloud based playout platform for OTT multi-screens will mark its debut at IBC.
Amagi Cloudport is one of Amagi’s primary offerings which enables 24x7 playout of a TV channel across multiple headends using a cloud-based transmission infrastructure. Amagi has partnered with RiverSilica Technologies to create a simulcast of the linear feed generated from the Cloudport platform for OTT multi-screens.

The linear broadcast feed output from the Cloudport platform is converted to multiple high quality bit rate streams by RiverSilica’s servers for delivery to a CDN, which in turn distributes to multiple subscriber devices including smartphones, tablets and personal computers. The integrated system acts as end-to-end OTT delivery platform encompassing cloud based content transmission, channel playout and encoding.
Baskar S, Co-founder, Amagi noted that, “We wanted to develop an efficient and cost effective multi-screen delivery platform for broadcasters to tackle the OTT markets and we have done just that with the help of RiverSilica. We have integrated our Cloudport platform with RiverSilica’s server to create a system that generates a linear TV feed for all internet devices.”
Jagannathan Balaji, Founder, President & CEO of RiverSilica Technologies said that “We are very pleased to partner with Amagi in helping them build their multiscreen solutions, for their Cloudport platform. We believe, RiverSilica’s PIXFIX™, Tru-Transcode™ Servers as a part of Amagi’s solutions would definitely give their customers best in class quality at optimal cost.”
