Media Nucleus launches CAMS express for Phase III and IV market

Considering the special requirement of Phase III & IV market of Digital cable, Mumbai-based Media Nucleus, which provides technology solutions to the broadcast and cable market, has launched a new subscriber management system (SMS) solution christened as CAMS Express. This is a low cost plug and play product for the smaller operators in “other urban areas and rural markets”, as defined by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
CAMS Express will help the cable operators with low subscriber numbers to go digital without having to worry about substantial investment in the SMS domain. It enables the operator with all DAS (Digital Addressable System) mandated audit requirements with respect to reports and features. The box solution comes with inbuilt database server and SMS and the operator can GoLive by just switching on it. The solution is also available as cloud-based offering to the local cable operators (LCOs). The cloud-based subscription billing and management platform enables customers to easily “subscribe” to the products and services, generating predictable, recurring revenue for the LCOs.
Santosh Nair, Director Media Nucleus, said, “We are passionate about cloud- based products and solutions. We see these as an enabler for new broadcasters, niche content providers and smaller digital cable operators to have access to solutions without incurring large capital expenditures.”
Delivered as a SaaS model, the platform was built to automate and manage the complete subscriber lifecycle, allowing operators to acquire new customers, activate services, continuously track usage, accurately bill and accept payments, offer 24/7 support and self-service options, and analyse and report on customer activities.
Nair said “Our benchmark product CAMS has been a market leader in the digitisation rollout in the Metros and Tier-1 cities and we have over 30 headends in place. However given the smaller number of subscribers in the smaller towns and rural areas, we have come out with the CAMS Express – which we believe will fast forward the digitisation rollout.” Having an impressive list of clients with successful deployments across Phase -1 and 2, CAMS Express is all set to take on the Phase 3 and 4 markets.
“There is a strong demand from operators in Kerala, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Assam among other places,” Nair said.
