Harris Broadcast highlights IP convergence at Broadcast India

Unique triple-path router leads a comprehensive showcase supporting the transition to file-based architectures
Mumbai, India, Oct. 9, 2013 — Harris Broadcast, a global supplier of content management and network infrastructure serving broadcasters, satellite, MSOs, IPTV, mobile TV and OTT providers, today announced plans to showcase its advanced capabilities that help broadcasters transition to IP networks and file-based infrastructure at Broadcast India (Stand A101), Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, 9-11 Oct.

“The broadcast and media industry is undergoing a state of rapid change from analogue to digital, from standard definition to HD and beyond, and from real time connectivity to IP files,” said Kerry Wheeles, product manager, Harris Broadcast. “In the real world, broadcasters are navigating these transitions at their own pace, and according to local demand and return on investment opportunities. At Broadcast India, we look forward to demonstrating our comprehensive solutions that support both gradual and comprehensive migration across the video, audio and IP worlds.”
Leading the Broadcast India display is the company’s Platinum™ IP3 – the world’s first router that provides a future-proof investment with its capability to route audio, video and data.  Platinum IP3 also is the first router in the industry to offer seamless on-air expansion to matrices beyond 2Kx2K. In addition to its unique capabilities, Platinum IP3 supports other video processing requirements internally, including synchronization, audio embedding and shuffling, and multi-viewers.  Since its launch less than six months ago, the product has had substantial market momentum, securing significant orders from around the world.
Harris Broadcast’s Selenio™ media convergence platform will also be demonstrated, which allows for a modular set-up of baseband video and audio processing, compression and IP networking features in a single 3RU frame.  The company also offers a pre-configured Selenio system in a more compact 1U frame.
Addressing automated playout and workflows, Harris Broadcast will also feature Versio, the industry’s most complete integrated channel playout solution. This takes the key elements of the automation, server, graphics and branding technologies from other proven Harris Broadcast products and implements them in a highly resilient, 1 RU form factor. Versio will be demonstrated alongside the company’s leading line of Nexio video servers that together provide flexible playout solutions.  Rounding out the display will be the Harris Broadcast asset management solution, signal processing and quality control tools.
