Reliance Jio applies for MSO licence

Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) has applied for a pan-India cable MSO licence to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) through its subsidiary, Reliance Jio Media. 
According to industry sources, "Reliance Jio has recently applied for a pan India Cable MSO license and it is expected that the company will receive a pan India MSO license in FY 2014-15.” 
Reliance Jio has pan-India Broadband Wireless Access spectrum for 4G services. In earlier, it was reported that Reliance Jio Infocomm is set to roll out its 4G services in 800 cities in 2015. Commercial 4G services are to be launched with an investment of Rs 70,000 crore. 
Reliance Jio is the first telecom operator to hold pan India Unified License. Acquiring the license and entering into the MSO segment will put Reliance Jio in competition with MSO giants Hathway, SITI Cable, Den, IN Cable, among others.
