Vaizey updates on future of TV innovation

The Digital TV Group (DTG), the industry association for digital TV in the UK, has published the first status update of the government-backed Future of Innovation in Television Technology (FITT) Taskforce.
Vaizey stressed the importance of the FITT Taskforce as a partner to Government, summarising the challenges as: “First, the demand for spectrum capacity from mobile broadband. Second, the speed of technological innovation; and third, the need to understand how consumers interact with new technologies. Finally, partnerships like the DTG are absolutely critical.”

The Taskforce – launched in September 2012 by Vaizey – is led by a group consisting of senior content executives, consumer specialists, technology leaders, mobile and network providers and leading academics in the field. The Taskforce aims to define the measures that should be implemented to leverage the UK’s track record of innovation within television technology.
