The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on 7th August has issued an advisory to all MSOs and LCOs to carry only C-band signals of Doordarshan channels for retransmission on their cable service.
The advisory has been issued after Prasar Bharati informed the ministry that some MSOs and cable operators are not carrying mandatory channels and the quality of retransmission of TV channels of Doordarshan by some MSO is inferior as they take Doordarshan signals from the Ku-Band DTH services of Doordarshan.
In this context MIB reiterated its earlier notification dated 5th September 2013, according to which it is mandatory for the MSOs and LCOs to carry 24 channels of Doordarshan in DAS areas and eight channels in non-DAS areas with use of only C-band signals of Doordarshan channels.
Therefore the Ministry advised all MSOs/LCOs to ensure that all mandatory channels of Doordarshan are not only carried on their network but also that Doordarshan signals for retransmission are received on C-band dishes only as per the Government notification.
