I&B ministry permits four new channels in 2014

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has give licence to four new television channels in 2014. These channels include, The Green TV, Hastey Raho, Satlon News and Maha Movie. 
Teleone Consumers Product-promoted Hastey Raho and Sangeet Television Network-promoted Maha Movie have got non-news uplinking licence for Hindi, English and all other Indian schedule languages, while Nomad Films-promoted The Green TV has got non-news uplinking licence for Hindi, English as well as few regional languages. 

The only company to get a news channel uplinking licence was Satlon Enterprise, which has got the permission to start a news and current affairs channel by the name Satlon News in Gujarati/Hindi/English language. 
As of 31 January 2014, the government has permitted 786 private TV channels to operate in India. Of this, 389 channels are news and current affairs channels while 397 are non-news and current affairs channels.
