Operators of Jabalpur protest against hiked in Star TV rates

‘Mahakoushal Cable Operators Sangh’ and Jabalpur Cable Operators Welfare Association of local cable operators protest against the new RIO (Reference Interconnect Offer) of Star TV channels in Jabalpur (MP) on 12 November 2014.
Operators burnt the effigies of Rupert Murdoch and his son James Murdoch shouting slogans against the Star TV Group at Malviya Chowk in the City. Hundreds of Operators had gathered at the venue. Leaders of Cable Operators informed that the new rates for Star TV channels are as high as ten times, the old rates and out of the reach of subscribers. The association also appealed to the consumers to boycott Star TV channels.
Operators have also threatened that if rates are not brought down, they will appeal in the court. They have also complained about this to the I&B Minister and the PM.
