Eltrona Taps Irdeto to Provide Integrated Broadcast and OTT Security for New Interactive TV Services

Irdeto, a world leader in Multiscreen, Media Protection and Revenue Assurance solutions, today announced that Eltrona Interdiffusion, a Luxembourg-based cable TV operator, has selected the company to provide media protection for Eltrona, a new set of interactive services launching in 2014. Via a hybrid platform, Irdeto’s Integrated Management System solution will seamlessly manage Eltrona’s content delivery across both broadcast and broadband networks, ensuring robust content protection on any device regardless of delivery method. Irdeto will also enable Eltrona to generate revenue efficiently over hybrid set-top boxes (STBs) and mobile devices.
With demand for digital content increasing throughout Europe and a growing number of connected devices in the home, Eltrona knew it needed a more holistic solution that would allow them to expand quickly into new services, without compromising security. With Irdeto Integrated Management System, Eltrona can centrally manage content usage and viewing policies as well as subscriber management systems for both OTT and broadcast content through a single user interface, improving time-to-market and decreasing operational costs.
“With the continued advancements of TV Everywhere, it’s imperative to offer our subscribers a variety of viewing options with an extremely engaging user experience,” stated Gert Buur, COO, Eltrona Interdiffusion. “Irdeto’s Integrated Management System really stood out as unique in the market in that it was intuitive to operate, reduced operational costs and improved consistency across broadcast and broadband delivery. Working together with Irdeto, we have the confidence to provide our customers with exciting new services on their favorite connected devices, without compromising our business.”
Integrated Management System combines Irdeto’s Cloaked CA solution for broadcast distribution with its Rights solution for broadband distribution, bridging the gap between two formerly disparate systems of content protection. Through this technology, Eltrona can reach beyond the home to mobile devices, which includes subscriber options for live or on-demand content.
“This solution marks the launch of Irdeto’s Integrated Management System into a market that is rapidly expanding and maturing, with Eltrona taking the lead as one of the most forward-thinking operators in this space,” stated Richard Scott, SVP of Sales and Marketing, Irdeto. “Eltrona is now able to meet the needs of its customers as well as adapt to the growing challenges of the TV Everywhere market. The implementation of this solution will support Eltrona’s vision for the delivery of new interactive services to subscribers.”
