Get This launches iPad app for second-screen shopping synced with TV

Get This Corp has launched an iPad app that allows US viewers to purchase items they see in television shows.
One of the first shows to integrate with the app is the political thriller Scandal. Audiences can discover and purchase a variety of products featured in the show, from Olivia Pope's iconic leather opera gloves and long necklaces, to some of her jackets and handbags. The free iPad app offers shopping from shows through a single cart, so consumers will no longer need to search or go through multiple stores and checkouts to purchase items they see.

It makes use of audio content recognition technology that syncs with selected shows. Users can shop by editorial feature, show, episode, cast or character, with three shopping options including original items seen in the show, 'stylist picks' inspired by the original items, and 'affordable options' to get the look for less.
The app also offers access to 'Style Ambassadors', who are a collection of working costume designers, architectural and production designers, and make-up and hair stylists. They provide audiences with Q&A articles, style tips, how-to and DIY secrets, a spotlight video series and updates on the latest style trends.
"Audiences have wanted to shop the items seen in their favourite TV shows for years," said Get This Founder and CEO, Lisa Farris. "Previously hard-to-find items are now at your fingertips, and we are thrilled to be partnering with some of the industry's thought leaders to bring Get This to fruition. We are looking forward to collaborating with producers and networks, as we add many more shows and events in the months ahead."
