NGC Network India receives nine uplinking licences

NGC Network India has received nine uplinking licences from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. NGC is a subsidiary of Fox International Channels (FIC) Asia.
The company has received uplinking licences for National Geographic, Fox Life, Fox Life HD, Baby TV HD, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Wild HD, Nat Geo People HD, Nat Geo Music HD and National Geographic HD. 
NGC Network was earlier downlinking these channels from Hong Kong. The new licences will help the company uplink its channels. It plans to begin work on the channels by next month.
As on 13 August, the MIB has permitted 827 private satellite TV channels in India. These include 400 news and current affairs channels and 427 non-news and current affairs channels. 
The latest round of approvals take the total number of channels permitted to uplink/ downlink to 712. India has 20 channels that can uplink from the country, but not downlink and 95 channels that can downlink.
