MSM, Hathway settle dispute

MSM Media Distribution and Hathway Cable and Datacom have ended their dispute over payments. The companies have settled for a fixed-fee deal for digital addressable system (DAS) and analogue areas.
Multisystem operator, Hathway, had switched off MSM channels in Das Phase II areas and had put the channels on a-la carte basis in DAS phase I regions.
With the deal thus sealed, Hathway will put MSM channels back in its packages immediately. It had switched off MSM channels in DAS Phase II areas while putting them on a la carte in Phase I areas until the end of the contract.
MSM Media had recently issued a disconnection notice to Hathway over “non-payment of outstanding subscription dues and non-renewal of agreement”. The case was dragged to the Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal, which directed the cable TV company to pay 145.6 million to MSM Media. The tribunal had said that it would be hearing the case on 12 October.
The contract between the two companies was ending on 31 March, 2015 in DAS II and on 31 October, 2015 in DAS Phase I.
