Digitization of Cable TV resume in Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam

Hyderabad High Court division bench comprising of Justice N. V. Ramana and Justice Vilas V. Afzulpurkar ordered the digitization of television network to go on after four weeks in Vishakapatnam and Hyderabad.
The bench dismissed a PIL and writ petition challenging the centre notification in fixing March 31st 2013 as deadline for installing Set top boxes (STB) in Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam claiming non availability of STB’s.

The bench pointed out that the PIL was being sponsored by MSO /LCO’s through petitioner’s society. However a grace period of four weeks was granted to consumers, MSO’s and LCO’s for installation of STB’s after which the centre will be free to implement the notification issued by it earlier.
The bench also said, the digitization will be applicable only in old Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area and not in the present GHMC area.
