FICCI Names STAR India's Uday Shankar Chairman of M&E Panel

STAR India CEO Uday Shankar has been appointed as the new Chairman of industry chamber FICCI’s Media & Entertainment Committee that reviews, recommends and shapes policy framework.
The position was previously held by celebrated filmmaker Yash Chopra and had remained vacant after his untimely demise in October this year.

Mr Shankar thus far steered FICCI’s Broadcast Forum, where as its Chairman he engaged with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to achieve digitization.
Multi Screen Media CEO Man Jit Singh will replace Mr. Shankar as the new Chairman of the Broadcast Forum.
In his new role, Mr. Shankar will be supported by renowned filmmakers Ramesh Sippy and Karan Johar as Co-Chairs of the Committee.
FICCI said it looks for Mr. Shankar's vision, rich and varied experience and deft leadership to take the formidable Indian media and entertainment industry to newer heights.
“We would work with all industry stakeholders closely to formulate an agenda for sustained growth of the burgeoning entertainment sector and hold regular and meaningful dialogues with policy makers,” Mr. Shankar said after taking over as the Chairman of the Committee.
FICCI M&E Committee represents stakeholders in the media and entertainment industry at several crucial forums and works closely with the government on behalf of the industry. The committee has been crucial for the media & entertainment industry in achieving several milestones in the past decade.
