Cable operator shot at Delhi

A 32-year-old cable operator was shot at by a group of assailants at Tajpur in outer Delhi's Alipur on Thursday, 13 December 2012. The attackers allegedly came in a car owned by a Delhi police constable. According to police, five assailants fired four-five bullets, one of which hit the cable operator in his stomach. The injured cable operator has been identified as Jitendra. He reportedly was having a dispute with another cable operator in the area, allegedly a head constable.
A senior police officer said Jitendra was sitting outside his house with his father and brother when a group of miscreants arrived in a Maruti Swift car. The criminals stepped out of the car and one of them fired four-five bullets at Jitender.

"One bullet hit Jitender on the right side of his stomach. The other bullets missed target. Hearing the gunshots, neighbours came out after which the miscreants fled the spot and left the car behind. The family members of the victim and neighbours vandalised the vehicle. We recovered three used bullet shells from the spot," said the senior police officer. Jitendra was rushed to Raja Harishchandra hospital.
A case of attempt to murder, the senior officer said, was registered at the Alipur police station and efforts were being made to identify the attackers.
The police impounded the car, registered in the name of Narendra, the head constable.
Jitendra alleged he was having a dispute with Narendra over providing cable connections in the locality. He alleged Narendra used to threaten him and he had filed a police complaint. The police are probing the role of Narendra, said the officer.
