On 25 December, the Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh launched a high-speed broadband internet service as part of the Digital India programme of the Central government. The broadband will benefit people living in Jammu, Srinagar, Ladakh, and Katra.
Singh commented: "By improving digital connectivity and improving digital literacy in the country, we will be able to promote inclusive growth that covers electronic services, products, devices and job opportunities."
Deputy CM also praised Modi's various missions and said PM’s vision behind the ambitious programme was to "transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy".
He added: "The Government of India has been undertaking a series of initiatives to promote e-governance by developing various applications and portals that would go a long way in making the lives of the people better."
