As per the statistics issued by the Department of Telecom (DoT), the foreign direct investment (FDI) in the telecom industry has touched $6.08 billion (Rs 40,000 crore) in the first half of 2017.
The report said: “FDI equity inflow in the telecom sector touched $ 6.08 billion in the first half of the financial year (April to September, 2017).”
The telecom department is taking steps to minimise the stress of the telecom industry, suffering from revenue erosion due to heightened competition from new comer Reliance Jio. DoT will bring new National Telecom Policy by March next year.
