I & B Ministry reject applications of WB and Punjab Govt to get MSO license

Ministry of I & B has rejected the applications of two state governments namely West Bengal and Punjab to enter into broadcasting business.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that his ministry had received the applications from these two states seeking permission to enter into the broadcasting business but those were not approved.
It is important to note here that Tamil Nadu Government has also applied with Ministry for MSO license to operate in DAS areas in Tamil Nadu for its Arasu Cable TV, which is pending since long time. So it is interesting to see whether Modi Government will accept her application or will do same as with Mamata and Badal as we all know Modi and Jailalita are good Ploitical friends.
The Union Government is delaying or rejecting the state government applications for MSO license due to TRAI 2012 recommendations which barred the state government to enter the business of broadcasting or distribution of television channels.
