CQ-DTH operators Subscribers base reaches to 64.82 million: TRAI

The number of DTH subscribers in India increased from 62.97 million at the end of Dec-13 to 64.82 million at the end of Mar-14, registering a growth of 2.93% over the previous quarter, according to TRAI’s quarterly report published on 30 July. 
The number of active subscriber based during the quarter increased 3.85 per cent to 37.19 million from 35.81 million. The number of inactive subscriber during the quarter increased 1.73 per cent to 27.63 million from 27.16 million in the previous quarter.
Total number of private satellite TV channels permitted by the Ministry of I&B, are 793 at the QE Mar-14, which includes 187 pay channels. 
Maximum number of TV channels being carried by any of the reported MSO is 387, whereas in conventional analogue form, the maximum number of channels being carried by any of the reported MSO is 100 channels 
The number of telephone subscribers in India increased from 915.19 million at the end of Dec-13 to 933.01 million at the end of Mar-14, registering a growth of 1.95% over the previous quarter. This reflects year-on-year (Y-O-Y) growth of 3.90% over the same quarter of last year. The overall Tele-density in India increased from 74.02 as on 31st December, 2013 to 75.23 as on 31st March, 2014. 
Total number of Internet subscribers has increased from 238.71 million at the end of Dec-13 to 251.59 million at the end of Mar-14, there has been a quarterly growth of 5.40%. Out of which Wired Internet subscribers are 18.50 million and Wireless Internet subscribers are 233.09 million.
